Located by the sea, the CCIB is an architectonical icon of Barcelona and an integral part of the new technology and business district locally known as 22@. This space of 100,000 m2, with ceilings up to 12m height and capable of hosting 15.000 delegates, was conceived to give more prominence to light. The CCIB consists of two buildings, the Convention Centre, that includes 45 rooms of different sizes and was designed by the architect Josep Luís Mateo, and the Forum Auditorium, by Herzog & DeMeuron that counts 3.140 seats. Since 2011, the CCIB has implemented a series of Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives making its commitment to social development and the improvement of the environment its business objective (waste segregation, energy optimization, reduction of water consumption, calculation and compensation the carbon footprint).
