The building, which was designed by Francisco Javier Saenz de Oiza, was opened in 1991 and was clearly intended to be a multipurpose venue from the outset. The Cantabria Festival Centre, which is located opposite the Bay of Santander, offers a full programme of classical music, dance, theatre, jazz and cinema all year round. In addition, the varied, spacious facilities equipped with state-of-the-art technology make the complex the ideal place in which to host all types of conferences, meetings and conventions.

The complex is equipped with the following facilities:

• Argenta Hall.
  • With a capacity of 1,670 people and a 378m² stage.
• Pereda Hall.
  • With a capacity of 570 people and a 130 m² stage.
• Greek Room.
  • With a capacity of 120 people and a usable area of 205m².
  • Direct access from the street.
• Three exhibition areas of between 430m² and 588m².
• 7 meeting rooms.
• 3 cafés.
